What If … All estates could be planted with Communitrees, jammy hedges, herbs and wildflower meadows?
What If … upcycled benches and picnic tables could be built by volunteers and nature inspired murals painted on walls to encourage residents to sit and enjoy their newly greened up estate? Quote from Musa Habib, Camden Forester
We are passionate about helping rewild London, estates and schools. Greening and rewilding urban spaces helps biodiversity, supports wildlife, and plants, sequester CO2 , helping to tackle the ecological emergency.
Our greening projects are, however, about so much more than planting; they are about ecological justice. We are wild about community. Behind every green project we co-design and deliver with residents, there are at least 3 months of engagement work. This takes the form of doorknocking, postering, and community events. Each of our projects also help create youth opportunities. One of the USP’s of our Communi-tree and Beeline Box projects in partnership with the KOKO Foundation is that we pay young people – our Koko Foresters who are living on the estates, a weekly fee to care for their newly planted trees, beeline herb boxes and wildflower meadows. Blue spaces are also now at the forefront of our minds. It is said that a wildlife garden without a pond is like a theatre without a stage. In partnership with Camden Climate Alliance business Gentrack and corporate volunteers, we recently built a pond at Camden School for Girls.

Residents on estates tell us they would like a wildlife pond in their grounds. We are looking to work with pioneering council housing and grounds maintenance departments to enable this to happen.
