Energising Communities
What If … ? All London residents knew all the ways to save money on their energy bills through low-cost measures.
What if … ? We trained up communities of local Power Rangers on a learn-apply-teach model, to enable energy-saving knowledge to become embedded and passed on across families and neighbourhoods.
What If … ? Estates across London became mini power stations with rooftop solar on and solar balconies? Residents could then benefit from cheap, low-carbon energy
Power Rangers
As winter starts to bite, our newly trained Power Rangers are spreading the word on low-cost energy-saving initiatives, helping Londoners lower the cost of their energy bills and making their homes cosy. Our growing cohort of Power Rangers are currently working across Camden, but are looking to expand this project in Brent and welcome interest from other London boroughs.
In winter 25/26 our Power Rangers will be helping residents at libraries across Camden.
Keep an eye here on forthcoming dates.
Kings Cross & Somers Town
We were also delighted to receive funding from the King’s Cross Carbon Fund to train up more Camden residents to become Power Rangers. This winter you will be able to find Tuli, Syeda and Halma out and about recruiting more Power Rangers, at a series of events across KX & ST. If you would like to become a Power Ranger (paying the London Living wage) please get in touch with JK at: jk@thinkanddocamden.org.uk.
Another aspect of this project we are really excited about is the new emphasis on reaching young people. See the picture below – Meet Mustafa, Tayebb, Maisha and Zara (L-R) – our new ‘NRG101s.’ They’re on a mission to mash up the vocab, create social media skits, and get younger people thinking that saving energy is cool and putting peer group pressure on. Our NRG101’s will be out ‘n about delivering school workshops. Follow them on Instagram and TikTok.
Keep an eye out on the website and our social channels for further updates on where and when our NRG101’s will be getting powered up …
*April 2026 update*
Our NRG 101s have made fantastic progress over the past few months; you could say they have had bags of energy! They have delivered a school energy saving workshop at St Patrick’s & St Mary’s in Somers Town, and later this month they will deliver a workshop to students at Regent’s High Primary School.
Their presentations, which included fun games, have been a big hit with the young people of Somers Town and have helped raise the importance of energy saving, especially in these turbulent times .
Here are some screenshots of their fantastic activities as per their social networks. Follow them for more on Instagram and TikTok.
The NRG101s have been very successful at their school events and we are hoping they can continue their work across more schools in the borough and beyond. If you would be interested in funding them to enable them to continue their schools work please email Ned Collier
